In a powerful display of solidarity, students and citizens from diverse backgrounds converged near the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka on Monday, rallying against the relentless violence in Gaza. Their voices echoed a deep-seated outrage not only at Israel’s military actions but also at the U.S. government’s perceived complicity in the ongoing conflict.
As the sun rose, tens of thousands filled the streets of Dhaka and cities nationwide, igniting a fervor of protest. This was one of the largest demonstrations seen in recent times, where chants of condemnation against American and Israeli leaders reverberated through the air. Protesters wielded banners and placards emblazoned with urgent messages, including calls for accountability directed at U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Beginning their march around 11 a.m., demonstrators, part of the “No Class, No School” campaign, carried signs that read, “Show Israel the Red Card,” symbolizing a collective demand for action and justice.
In response to the escalating situation, the U.S. Embassy issued a warning to its citizens in Dhaka, urging them to exercise caution, steer clear of potential flashpoints, and stay informed through local news updates as the protests unfolded.
This day marked not just a protest, but a poignant reminder of the power of unity in the face of injustice.
