Social media platforms, namely Facebook and WhatsApp, have become accessible this afternoon in Bangladesh. Social media users started to get uninterrupted access to social media platforms shortly after 2:00 pm.

Earlier this morning, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the service of Facebook and other social media platforms would resume by the afternoon.Palak shared the update after a virtual meeting with representatives from Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, which took place at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) building in Dhaka’s Agargaon.

Earlier on July 18, internet services were disrupted and access to social media platforms was blocked amid the violence centering on the quota reform movement.
