Boishakhi Mela-1431 has been recently celebrated in Vancouver, Canada organized by Greater Vancouver Bangladesh Cultural Association.
People from all walks of life, including children and teenagers, attend the fair in traditional clothes. The fair begins with the National Anthem of Bangladesh and the Mangal procession. It has various local food, pitha, sari-cloth and jewelry shops.
The day-long colorful cultural program has featured melodious songs and routines by local artistes. Rituparna Banerjee, the guest artist at the fair, mesmerizes everyone with her melodious voice.
Columbia (Conservative) Party leader John Rastred and his wife enjoy the culture and food of Bangladesh by attending the event. Also, the president of the organization Mr. Emon leads the event.
Like the confluence of Padma and Yamuna in the day-long fair of life, expatriate Bengalis as well as foreigners join the event and enjoy it from morning till afternoon. In an atmosphere of joy, traditional Bengali chats from noon to afternoon and people singing folk tunes, rhythms of poetry, dances and performances did not fail anywhere.
