Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua won the title of Miss Universe 2023 on Saturday at the 72nd pageant, which was hosted in El Salvador this year.
The 23-year-old Palacios was given the sash and crown by her American predecessor, R’Bonney Gabriel. This year, beauties from 90 countries participated in the Miss Universe 2023 pageant including Sheynnis Palacios, among those who won the title.
With Anntonia Porsild from Thailand and Moraya Wilson from Australia completing the top three positions, this is the first time a competitor from Nicaragua has won the competition.
During a week of competitions that included posing in swimsuits, evening gowns, and traditional dresses, Palacios emerged victorious among 84 contestants, citing her main qualities as humility and gratitude for the little things.
In her final answer to the jury, Palacios emphasized the importance of equal pay regardless of gender so that women can “work in any area.”
“There is no limit for women,” she said.
