Tasmania Police Treat Hobart Woman’s Death as Suspicious; Man Arrested

Emergency services were called to a property on Lissadell Court in New Town around 4pm on Saturday, where the body of a woman believed to be in her 60s was discovered. Detective Inspector David Gill said officers are working to determine how she died.

“Police investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the woman’s death; however, at this stage, we are treating the death as suspicious,” Inspector Gill said.

The woman has not yet been formally identified.

A man in his 50s has been arrested and remains in police custody as inquiries continue. Inspector Gill confirmed that police and forensic specialists will stay at the scene throughout the day.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact investigators, as the case remains active.
