Bangladesh’s fisheries and livestock sector may be heading toward a new era of technological transformation after a high‑level meeting on 11 August 2026 between State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and Norway’s Ambassador Håkon Arald Gulbrandsen.
The ambassador said Norway’s leading aquaculture technology company Noras Watertech AS, together with its regional partner Agile Resources, has presented advanced land‑based fish‑farming systems to the ministry opening the door to future investment and knowledge‑transfer opportunities.
The presentation highlighted modern aquaculture models designed to boost productivity, reduce environmental pressure and strengthen Bangladesh’s growing fisheries industry. Senior officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock attended the meeting, including Secretary Md Delwar Hossain, Director General of the Department of Fisheries Dr Khaled Konok, and Joint Secretary Baby Rani Karmakar. Also present were Norwegian Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Alexander Falk‑Bilden, Agile Resources founder and CEO Kamruzzaman Khan Sohel, and Galans CEO Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan.
During the discussion, Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan expressed strong interest in expanding Bangladesh–Norway cooperation. He said he is ready to volunteer on any project that contributes to Bangladesh’s development and emphasised his commitment to supporting international partnerships. Kabir also mentioned his past political imprisonment for BNP‑related activities, adding that if Bangladesh ever needs his assistance on global platforms, he is “one call away.”
The meeting signals growing momentum for Bangladesh’s aquaculture modernisation, with Norway emerging as a potential long‑term partner in technology, investment and sustainable fisheries development.
