Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie has launched a scathing attack on chairman of selectors Aaqib Javed, saying Pakistan’s chaotic decisions during the England Test series show a team “playing with fear” and a selection panel with “no strategy at all.”
Pakistan this week sacked head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed, removed pace‑bowling chief Umar Gul, and sent seven players home from England after back‑to‑back heavy defeats a dramatic shake‑up that stunned fans and former players.
Gillespie highlighted the abrupt axing of Salman Ali Agha, who captained Pakistan in the first Test but was dropped for the second and flown home before the third.
“How does that work?” he asked.
He placed the blame squarely on Aaqib Javed:
“It’s pretty clear they don’t have a selection strategy at all, particularly under Aaqib Javed. They change their mind like they change their pants daily.”

Gillespie also rejected Javed’s recent comments blaming him and former white‑ball coach Gary Kirsten for Pakistan’s struggles:
“Aaqib has been chairman of selectors for the past two years. We haven’t even been there. Somehow he claims it is our fault. Make sense out of that.”
He added that Javed “needs to look at himself in the mirror,” accusing the selection panel of creating instability that has left players unsure of their roles and fearful of making mistakes.
Pakistan’s overhaul continues as the team attempts to recover from one of its most turbulent Test tours in recent years.
