Hollywood stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexandra Daddario, and Christopher Walken have signed on to star in the upcoming true-crime drama Long Island Bank Robber, a film based on the real-life story of one of Long Island’s most notorious bank robbers.

The film will feature Taylor Kitsch, best known for Friday Night Lights, in the lead role of Stephen Trantel, a former Wall Street commodities trader whose life takes a dramatic turn after losing his job. According to the film’s synopsis, Trantel’s desperate efforts to support his family ultimately lead him into a life of crime, becoming one of Long Island’s most prolific bank robbers.

Alexandra Daddario, known for her acclaimed performance in The White Lotus, will portray Jeanne Trantel, Stephen’s wife. The character is described as a perceptive and independent woman who gradually becomes suspicious of her husband’s activities while seeking a path of her own beyond family life.

Veteran Academy Award-winning actor Christopher Walken has been cast as Stephen Trantel’s father, a retired police officer known for his strong moral principles and unwavering sense of duty.

The film will be directed by Matthew Gentile, who previously directed the crime drama American Murderer. Production is being handled by Vince Jolivette and Richie Hill of Filmopoly, Chris Bellant of Vision Entertainment, and Danielle Gasher under Vaneast Pictures.

Speaking about the project, Gentile said the story had fascinated him since his youth.

“The Long Island Bank Robber is a true story I learned about growing up in New York City as a true-crime obsessive,” the filmmaker said.

The film is expected to explore the personal, financial, and emotional pressures that transformed a successful professional into a serial bank robber, while also examining the impact on those closest to him.

With a cast featuring Kitsch, Daddario, and Walken, the project is already generating significant interest among crime-drama fans and industry observers.
