Six teenagers have been charged following an alleged group attack on a teenage boy in Perth, an incident that was filmed and later shared on social media, prompting community concern and police investigations.
According to reports, a graphic video circulating online shows a group confronting a teenager while repeatedly asking, “Where’s the vape?” before the alleged victim is pushed to the ground.
The Perth Children’s Court heard that the boy was allegedly dragged along the ground, punched and kicked, and forced to make derogatory statements before his T-shirt and jumper were allegedly stolen.
The case has attracted widespread attention after a 14-year-old boy was charged in connection with the incident. Police later confirmed that five additional teenagers, aged between 13 and 17, had also been charged.
Authorities said the youths face allegations including causing bodily harm and aggravated armed robbery, while investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
Following the assault, the victim reportedly managed to walk home before later attending Midland Hospital for treatment. Medical assessments reportedly found he had suffered a concussion, multiple lumps to the head, black eyes, and bruising across his upper and lower body.
The incident has sparked strong community reaction, leading to a local motorcade and public demonstration organised by resident Terry Mason.
Mason said he decided to organise the rally after learning about the attack and hearing that his nephew had also allegedly experienced harassment in the area.
Community members have expressed concern about youth violence and the circulation of assault footage on social media, while police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether further arrests may be made.
The 14-year-old accused has already appeared before the Children’s Court, while investigations into the involvement of the other teenagers remain ongoing.
