A major fire broke out at a garments factory in Ashulia on Sunday evening, leaving at least nine people injured and prompting a large-scale emergency response by the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The blaze erupted at the FNS factory of Preeti Group in the Jamgara area of Ashulia at around 7:50pm, according to fire service officials. Initial reports indicate that the fire started following a series of gas cylinder explosions inside the factory premises.

As the flames rapidly spread, firefighting teams rushed to the scene to prevent the fire from engulfing nearby sections of the industrial facility. According to Somen Barua, warehouse inspector at the Ashulia DEPZ Fire Service, four fire service units were initially deployed to tackle the blaze. Additional firefighting units were later dispatched, although some crews reportedly faced delays due to heavy traffic congestion near the Baipail intersection.

To control the situation, the Fire Service eventually mobilised 12 firefighting units, which continued working to bring the fire under control and prevent further damage.

Emergency responders also worked to evacuate workers and provide medical assistance to the injured. The extent of damage to the factory has not yet been fully assessed, and authorities have not released detailed information about the condition of those injured.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation, although preliminary reports suggest the fire may have originated from exploding gas cylinders.
