Apple is introducing a range of advanced features with its new iPhone 18 Pro lineup, including a groundbreaking image verification system, significantly longer battery life, and faster charging capabilities aimed at enhancing both security and user experience.
One of the standout additions is Reference Image, a new feature available on iPhone 18 Pro models that uses the device’s Main camera sensor to cryptographically sign data captured by each pixel. When users take photos in Reference mode, the system generates an unalterable reference image through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure.
The reference image can be viewed alongside the primary photo in the Photos app, allowing users to compare the two versions and determine whether any edits have been made. Apple says the feature is designed to improve content authenticity and trust in digital photography at a time when AI-generated and manipulated images are becoming increasingly common.
To further support image transparency, Apple is also expanding the use of image metadata and plans to support the SynthID standard, helping users identify content that has been generated or altered using artificial intelligence tools.
Battery performance has also received a major boost, particularly on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. eSIM-only versions of the new devices offer up to 36 hours of video playback on the iPhone 18 Pro and up to 45 hours on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The UAE is among the markets receiving eSIM-only models.
According to Apple, removing the physical SIM tray creates additional internal space for a larger battery, contributing to roughly two extra hours of video playback. The new Pro models also introduce a variable-aperture camera system, the A20 Pro processor, and redesigned thermal management technology designed to sustain peak performance for longer periods.
Charging speeds have been improved as well. The iPhone 18 Pro can reach up to 50 percent charge in approximately 15 minutes using a wired connection, while wireless charging can deliver the same level in about 30 minutes. Apple says just five minutes of wired charging on the iPhone 18 Pro Max can provide around seven hours of video playback.
With enhanced AI transparency tools, improved camera technology, longer-lasting batteries, and rapid charging capabilities, Apple’s latest Pro models are positioning themselves as some of the most advanced smartphones the company has ever released.
