Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is making headlines again but this time, it’s not for his fearless batting. The 15‑year‑old prodigy turned the Duleep Trophy quarter-final into his own stage on Saturday, delivering a remarkable bowling spell that left fans buzzing across the cricket world.
Playing for East Zone against North East Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 2 in Bengaluru, Sooryavanshi had a rare failure with the bat, managing just eight runs from six balls before falling to Bishworjit Konthoujam. But the teenager didn’t let that setback define his day.
He needed only eight deliveries to strike with the ball.
In the 28th over, Sooryavanshi bowled a teasing delivery outside off stump, luring Kishan Lyngdoh down the track. Lyngdoh went for a big shot, lost his shape, and sent a leading edge looping towards cover where substitute fielder Denish Das completed a clean catch.
It was the first of two wickets Sooryavanshi claimed in just four balls, showcasing a maturity and control far beyond his age.
