Confirmed Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo have climbed to 2,267, with 893 deaths, according to new government data released late Saturday. The latest situation report shows the outbreak accelerating, documenting 86 new infections and 29 additional deaths within just 24 hours.

The figures, recorded as of Friday, highlight the persistent severity of one of the world’s most challenging public‑health emergencies. Health workers continue to battle the virus across multiple provinces, often in remote or conflict‑affected areas that complicate containment efforts.

As the outbreak expands, international agencies and regional health authorities are intensifying surveillance, treatment and community‑awareness campaigns all critical tools in preventing further spread of the deadly virus.
