Northern Territory police have launched a major investigation after a 44‑year‑old man was found dead inside a home in Alice Springs, with officers confirming they are treating the death as suspicious.
Emergency services were called to a property on Nicker Crescent in Gillen at about 9:10am on Sunday after reports that a man had been found unresponsive in a bed. When police and paramedics arrived, they discovered the man with injuries to his head and lower body, and he was declared dead at the scene.
While the exact cause of death has not yet been determined, police said the nature of the injuries and circumstances required the case to be treated as suspicious. Detectives are now working to establish when and how the man sustained the injuries, and whether anyone else was involved.
Investigators are urging anyone with information including residents who may have seen unusual activity in the area to come forward and assist the inquiry.
