Three oil tankers carrying a combined 101,000 tonnes of diesel and octane reached the outer anchorage of Chattogram on Tuesday, marking a significant boost to Bangladesh’s fuel supply amid ongoing market pressure.
According to Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) officials, the vessels will dock gradually and begin unloading soon, a process expected to help stabilise national fuel availability.
Breakdown of arriving tankers
MT Lian Song Hu : 41,000 tonnes of diesel (from India)
MT Pacific Indigo : 33,000 tonnes of diesel (from India)
MT Nave Cielo : 27,000 tonnes of octane (from Taiwan)
BPC also confirmed that in the past 19 days, it has sourced 15,170 tonnes of octane from three local private companies, with Super Petro PLC supplying the largest share at 11,615 tonnes.
The arrival of these tankers comes as Bangladesh continues to manage supply challenges linked to global disruptions, including Middle East tensions affecting fuel imports.
