$2.6bn Infinity Planet Mega‑Project Stalls as Developer Faces Legal Action Over Unpaid Engineering Bills

2 min read

A major tourism development planned between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast has hit a serious setback, with a company linked to developer Ramin Ahmadi facing legal action after allegedly failing to pay a crucial engineering contractor.

The Infinity Planet project a proposed 68‑hectare destination at Elimbah featuring a theme park, water park, five‑star hotel and a 9,000‑seat city hall cannot progress through council approvals because the final engineering report has been withheld.

Unpaid $145k Invoice Blocks Key Report

QSHAC Pty Ltd, a company owned by Ahmadi, hired RMA Engineering to produce a mandatory report required by the City of Moreton Bay’s development approval process. RMA says $145,112 in invoices have been outstanding since October, despite repeated promises of payment.

RHC City the main development company founded by Ahmadi offered $80,000 in November in exchange for the report, but RMA refused. In February, an RHC City executive emailed RMA asking for more time, citing delays in settling another property and, more recently, difficulties transferring funds from the Middle East.

Without the report, the council cannot advance the application unless the developer commissions a new assessment from a different engineering firm.

Developer Blames Delays on Iran War

RHC City says the situation is being resolved and insists the $2.6 billion project will still proceed. The company attributes the payment delays to financial disruptions caused by the ongoing war in Iran.

A High‑Profile Developer Under Pressure

Ahmadi, who was born in Iran, has been involved in numerous large‑scale developments across the Asia‑Pacific and Middle East, including the Tehran Mega Mall, often described as the world’s largest shopping centre.

But the stalled Infinity Planet project and the legal dispute now surrounding it has raised questions about timelines, financing stability and the future of one of Queensland’s most ambitious tourism ventures.
