Trump Administration Launches Two New Investigations Into Harvard Over Discrimination Allegations

2 min read

The administration of President Donald Trump has opened two additional investigations into Harvard University, intensifying its ongoing scrutiny of elite U.S. educational institutions. The U.S. Department of Education confirmed on Monday that its civil rights office has launched fresh probes following allegations that Harvard continues to discriminate against students based on race, color and national origin violations that fall under federal law.

According to the department, one investigation will examine whether Harvard is still using race‑based preferences in admissions despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark 2023 ruling that struck down affirmative action in higher education. The second probe will focus on allegations of antisemitism on Harvard’s campus, an issue that has drawn national attention in recent years.

Harvard did not immediately respond to requests for comment, though the university has previously stated that it condemns all forms of discrimination and is committed to combating bigotry. Last year, Harvard task forces reported that both Jewish and Muslim students had faced harassment and abuse on campus, underscoring the growing tensions within the academic community.

The new investigations mark the latest chapter in the administration’s broader push to hold major universities accountable, signaling that federal oversight of campus policies is likely to intensify in the months ahead.
