A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck the border region between Bangladesh and West Bengal, India, early Tuesday morning, according to the Euro‑Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). The tremor was recorded at 4:36am, with its epicentre located roughly 16km northwest of Satkhira, Bangladesh, and 36km east of Habra, India.

Authorities say there have been no immediate reports of structural damage or casualties.

The quake occurred near a geologically active zone where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates interact an area known for frequent low‑to‑moderate seismic activity.

Residents across parts of both countries reported feeling brief shaking, though emergency services have not issued any further alerts.
