Iran Claims Full Control of Hormuz Strait, Warns Neighbours Against Allowing Attacks

2 min read

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it has established complete control over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions in one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints. The announcement came Wednesday, via a report from Fars News, in which a senior Guard commander declared that Iran does not seek war but is fully prepared for any confrontation.

The deputy commander said Iran would “not retreat even a millimetre” if conflict breaks out, insisting the country would instead push forward. He claimed the strait is now monitored through advanced, integrated surveillance systems, replacing older methods. According to him, Iran is tracking all maritime, aerial and underwater movement around the clock.

He also asserted that Iran is deciding whether foreign ships can pass through the strait under other nations’ flags a claim likely to alarm global powers that rely on the waterway for energy shipments.

The commander warned that if the United States or its allies initiate a war, Iran will ensure they gain no strategic advantage. While insisting Tehran does not wish to harm the global economy, he said Iran is fully prepared to respond to any aggression.

He issued a sharp warning to neighbouring countries: if any state allows its territory to be used for attacks on Iran, Tehran will consider that nation an enemy. He added that Iran possesses undisclosed military capabilities that could be revealed if necessary.

The statement underscores rising regional tensions, with the Strait of Hormuz through which a significant share of the world’s oil supply passes once again at the centre of geopolitical friction.
