Turkey has issued a stark warning to Iran, cautioning that Israel may be seeking an opportunity to launch an attack. A senior Turkish official revealed that during a recent visit to Tehran, he conveyed this concern “as a friend,” noting that “a true friend sometimes speaks uncomfortable truths.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also discussed the matter directly with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a phone call on Thursday. Erdoğan reportedly made it clear that Turkey would oppose any form of foreign intervention in Iran and would prioritize regional peace and stability above all else.
The warning came on the same day U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a large American naval fleet was moving toward Iran. His remarks reignited fears of a potential U.S. strike, further heightening tensions in the region.
Shortly after Trump’s statement, a senior Iranian official told Reuters that Iran would consider any attack “small or large” as the beginning of an all‑out war, and would respond with severe countermeasures. The declaration has added yet another layer of volatility to an already fragile geopolitical landscape.
