Former Australian cricket star Damien Martyn has finally returned home after surviving a severe battle with meningitis that left him in a coma for eight days. Doctors had warned that his chances of survival were only fifty fifty, making his recovery nothing short of remarkable.
The 54 year old batting legend was discharged on Saturday from Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland. Martyn had been admitted on December 26, and although he regained consciousness four days later, he remained under close observation for several more days.
