South Australian Families Promised $2,000 Fertility Rebate Under Malinauskas Election Pledge

South Australian women and families could soon receive a $2,000 rebate to help cover out‑of‑pocket fertility treatment costs, under a new commitment announced by Premier Peter Malinauskas ahead of the upcoming state election.

Malinauskas said that if his Labor government is re‑elected in March, it will provide up to $4,000 in support covering $2,000 per IVF cycle for two cycles along with a $250 rebate to assist with pre‑IVF fertility testing.

He said the policy is designed to make fertility treatment more accessible for families who dream of having children but struggle with the financial burden.

“This is about making IVF more accessible and more affordable for more South Australian families so they can realise their ambition to have children,” he said.

“We know that with IVF, it often takes more than one cycle. So I think it’s only fair and reasonable that if we do this, we do it properly, and fund at least two cycles.”

Malinauskas delivered the announcement alongside two mothers and their five children all born through IVF highlighting what he described as “the magnificence of IVF” and the life‑changing opportunities it provides.
