Ariana Grande Says Acting Lets Her Live Inside “Someone Else’s Story”

1 min read

Ariana Grande says acting gives her a rare and “amazing experience” that allows her to step outside herself and embody another person’s story. Speaking about her role as Glinda in Wicked: For Good, the second installment of Jon M Chu’s Wicked films, Grande reflected on how different acting feels compared with making music.

She explained that music is “deeply personal,” shaped by one’s own emotions, pain and joy, while acting requires letting go of the self. She said becoming part of a larger creative ensemble feels “beautiful,” describing it as being one small piece of a massive artistic puzzle shaped by hundreds of people.

Grande added that she loves actors, loves discussing the craft and continues to learn how her own process evolves. She said she never takes the opportunity to act for granted.

Wicked: For Good, released in November 2025, stars Grande alongside the actor who plays Elphaba, with Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater and Michelle Yeoh completing the cast.
