Venezuelans are expressing shock and uncertainty following reports of Nicolás Maduro’s alleged capture. Jairo Chacin, a 39‑year‑old mechanic and workshop owner, said he felt “mixed emotions” after hearing the news. Another resident, 50‑year‑old Carmen Marquez from eastern Caracas, said she went up to her rooftop and could hear aircraft flying at different altitudes, though none were visible.
Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi has publicly detailed the charges filed against Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. She confirmed that both have been indicted in the Southern District of New York.
“Nicolas Maduro has been charged with Narco‑Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States,” Bondi said on X.
The situation has heightened tension across Venezuela as residents await official confirmation and further developments.
