Dhaka Tightens Security Ahead of Tarique Rahman’s Return After 17 Years

Security has been heightened across Dhaka as authorities prepare for the return of BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel have been deployed at the airport, the 300 Feet area, Gulshan and several other key points in the capital, according to a statement issued Thursday morning.

Tarique Rahman’s flight departed from London’s Heathrow Airport bound for Dhaka, marking his first return to Bangladesh in nearly seventeen years. He is traveling with his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and their daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman. The aircraft is scheduled to land around noon.
