Family members of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia are considering taking her to London for medical care if her condition improves, according to Dr. Mahdi Amin, adviser to the party’s acting chairman.
Speaking Saturday, Dr. Amin said Khaleda Zia represents the “emotions, aspirations, and feelings of the entire nation.” She is currently admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where both local and foreign specialists are overseeing her treatment. From London, Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman are maintaining constant virtual communication with her medical team.
Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas remarked that Khaleda Zia’s illness is not a “normal sickness,” but the result of an “abnormal situation” she has faced.
He made the comments Saturday afternoon at the Ruposhi Bangla Photography Exhibition and Competition 2025, organized by the Bangladesh Photojournalist Association.
