Bangladesh are just four wickets away from completing a commanding Test series whitewash over Ireland. After four days of play, the Tigers need only a handful of breakthroughs, while Ireland face the daunting task of chasing a massive 333 runs.
Bangladesh had earlier set a towering first-innings target of 509 runs, putting the visitors under immense pressure. Spinner Taijul Islam struck early, removing both Andy Balbirnie and Paul Stirling in consecutive overs to leave Ireland reeling at 26/2.
A brief resistance came from Cade Carmichael and Harry Tector, who added 51 runs for the third wicket. But Carmichael fell for 19 to Hasan Murad, further denting Ireland’s hopes. At the tea break, Ireland’s score stood at 88/3, still far adrift of safety.
With Bangladesh closing in on victory, the stage is set for a memorable finish that would underline their dominance and secure a clean sweep in the series.
