Khamenei Warns US: No Cooperation Unless Support for Israel Ends

2 min read

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has declared that Tehran will not cooperate with the United States unless Washington halts its support for Israel, withdraws its military bases, and stops interfering in the Middle East.

Speaking at a student gathering in Tehran on November 3, Khamenei said, “If they completely stop supporting the Israeli regime, withdraw their military bases from this region, and cease interfering here, then cooperation could be considered.” He accused the United States of having an “arrogant nature” that accepts nothing short of submission.

The remarks came during a ceremony marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution’s takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran, which followed the overthrow of Western-backed Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Khamenei’s warning follows months of heightened tensions. In June 2025, Israel launched unprecedented airstrikes on Iran, sparking a war that briefly drew in the United States, which struck Iranian nuclear facilities. The clashes killed 935 people in Iran and 24 in Israel. Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks, escalating the conflict and collapsing nuclear negotiations with Washington.

A ceasefire was eventually brokered on June 24 through mediation by the United States and Qatar, but relations remain deeply strained. Khamenei’s latest comments suggest that any path to renewed dialogue will depend on a fundamental shift in US policy toward Israel and the region.
