Deadly Explosion at Tennessee Military Explosives Plant Leaves Dozens Missing

A massive blast ripped through the Accurate Energetic Systems facility in Bucksnort, Tennessee, on Friday morning, leaving multiple people dead and at least 19 workers missing. Authorities fear few, if any, of the missing have survived.

The explosion occurred around 7:45 a.m. local time, destroying one of the plant’s eight buildings and sending shockwaves that were felt miles away. Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis described the devastation as one of the worst scenes he had ever witnessed. “There’s nothing to describe. It’s gone,” he said, confirming multiple fatalities but declining to provide a specific number while families were still being notified.

By the afternoon, officials confirmed the scene was under control, though search and recovery operations continued. Accurate Energetic Systems has long supplied explosives to the U.S. military, aerospace industry, and demolition contractors.
