Imran Khan, a Bangladeshi‑American investor and former Chief Strategy Officer of Snapchat, has expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh. He shared his plans during a meeting on Saturday, September 29, with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, according to an official statement from the adviser’s press wing.
Professor Yunus invited Khan to explore opportunities in Bangladesh’s rapidly growing fintech, healthcare, and social business sectors. Khan, who currently serves as chairman of Aleph Holding, said he was deeply inspired by Yunus’s lifelong mission to eradicate poverty and believes now is the right time to invest in his country of birth.
Khan moved to the United States at the age of 18 to pursue higher education and went on to build a reputation as an investment banker with JP Morgan and Credit Suisse. He played a pivotal role in Alibaba’s record‑breaking IPO and contributed significantly to Snapchat’s rapid rise in market value.
He is now the founder and CEO of Proem Asset, an investment firm specializing in fintech and technology‑driven sectors. Khan emphasized that Bangladesh’s young population and expanding digital economy make it a promising frontier market for future investment.
