Madrid, Spain: An explosion tore through a popular bar in Madrid’s Vallecas district on Saturday night, injuring 25 people and causing significant structural damage.
Emergency services said three of the injured remain in serious condition, though none are believed to be in life‑threatening danger. “We have accounted for all individuals, and no one is trapped under debris,” a spokesperson for Madrid’s fire department confirmed.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud blast followed by a partial collapse of the bar’s ceiling. Photos from the scene showed shattered glass strewn across the street, doors blown off their hinges, and smoke billowing from the building.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion, with early reports suggesting a possible gas leak. The bar, a well‑known gathering spot in the neighbourhood, was crowded at the time of the incident.
Madrid’s mayor has pledged support for the victims and their families, while local residents have begun organising blood donations for those injured.
