Diplomatic engagement with Bangladesh’s political parties intensified on Wednesday as senior leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami met with the British High Commissioner, while the Pakistan High Commissioner hosted representatives of the National Citizen Party (NCP).
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman, accompanied by senior party figures, held talks with British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke in Dhaka. The British High Commission described the discussion as part of an ongoing series of meetings with political parties across the country. Conversations focused on the UK’s partnership with Bangladesh and Jamaat’s preparations for the upcoming national election.
In a separate meeting, Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider welcomed NCP Convener Nahid Islam to the High Commission. Islam was joined by Alauddin Mohammad, Joint Member Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the International Cell, and SM Suza Uddin, Joint Member Secretary and Member of the International Cell.
Both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, underscoring the continued role of diplomatic missions in fostering dialogue with Bangladesh’s diverse political landscape ahead of the polls.
