Bangladesh is gearing up for its national parliamentary election, with preparations firmly on track for February, according to Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He assured that the process is unfolding as planned and no disruption will derail the timeline set by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
“All eyes are now on the election citizens, political parties, and the media alike,” he said. “No conspiracy will succeed.”
Speaking during a visit to key agricultural facilities under the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), Jahangir who also serves as Agriculture Adviser addressed rising vegetable prices, attributing the increase to rain-induced crop damage. He noted, however, that potato prices remain low.
To support farmers, the government plans to purchase potatoes and set fair prices. He emphasized that stronger agricultural research could eliminate the need for importing seed potatoes, cutting production costs and boosting local resilience.
On security matters, Jahangir confirmed that law enforcement agencies are actively working to recover looted weapons, describing the effort as ongoing and determined.
