Eight Dead in Fatal Head-On Collision on Bonpara-Hatikumrul Highway

A tragic accident on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul Highway in Baraigram upazila, Natore district, has claimed the lives of at least eight people, including five women, in a head-on collision between a microbus and a truck on Wednesday morning.

The victims have been identified as Zahidul Islam, his wife Shelly Begum, sister-in-law Ety Begum, Shima Khatun, Anwara Begum Anu, Anjuman Ara, Anna Khatun, and the microbus driver Shahab Uddin. All of them hailed from Dharmadah village in Daulatpur upazila, Kushtia district.

The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. when the Dhaka-bound microbus, coming from Natore, collided with a truck near the Sirampur Araimari Bridge area. According to Officer-in-Charge Ismail Hossain of Bonpara Highway Police Station, five people died instantly at the scene, while three others, including the microbus driver, were injured.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, but one victim later died en route. The microbus driver and Shima succumbed to their injuries at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital as their conditions worsened after being admitted.
