A 27-year-old man has tragically died at the Clarke Creek Wind Farm in central Queensland, prompting immediate safety measures. Squadron Energy, the operator of the site northwest of Rockhampton, announced that all work at the site has been suspended following the incident.
“Safety is our top priority across all our sites, and the wellbeing of everyone on the Clarke Creek Wind Farm is our immediate focus,” Squadron Energy stated. The family of the deceased has been notified and is receiving support, and police have confirmed an investigation is underway.
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland personnel are on-site assisting with the investigation.
Goldwind, one of the project’s investors, reported that the incident occurred late this morning and involved heavy machinery. Despite emergency services’ efforts to treat the worker on site, he was unable to be saved.
Clarke Creek is among Australia’s largest wind farms and is supported by Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest. The incident has raised concerns about safety at one of the country’s most significant renewable energy projects.
