Narendra Modi is set to undertake a groundbreaking multi-country tour from July 2 to July 9, marking several firsts in India’s diplomatic history and aiming to revitalize its international relationships. The tour will take him to Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, with a key focus on boosting bilateral ties and participating in the Brics summits.
Ghana: First PM Visit in 30 Years
On July 2-3, Modi will visit Ghana, making it the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in three decades. This visit underscores Ghana’s growing importance in India’s foreign policy. The agenda includes strengthening economic, energy, and defense cooperation, along with development projects. Discussions with Ghanaian President will also cover deepening ties with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union, signaling India’s commitment to engaging more actively with Africa.
Trinidad & Tobago: Reviving Historical Bonds
Following Ghana, Modi will travel to Trinidad & Tobago from July 3-4, marking his first visit to the Caribbean nation since 1999. Invited by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, the Prime Minister will hold talks with both the President and Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago. The visit aims to rekindle the deep-rooted historical and cultural connections between the two countries. Modi is scheduled to address a Joint Session of Parliament, emphasizing the importance of these longstanding ties and exploring avenues for further cooperation.
