As of Thursday, a total of 36,601 Hajj pilgrims have safely returned to Bangladesh after completing the religious pilgrimage held on June 5. The smooth transportation process has contributed to this significant repatriation.
Today, four flights are scheduled to bring back 1,631 more pilgrims to Dhaka, bringing the overall number of returnees to 38,232 through a total of 96 flights.
According to data from the Dhaka Hajj Office, out of all returning pilgrims, 5,006 traveled under government arrangements, while 31,595 returned via private plans.
Tragically, 36 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia during this Hajj season. Among them, 27 are men and nine are women. Of the deaths, 23 occurred in Makkah, 11 in Madinah, one in Jeddah, and one in Arafat.
The Hajj office also reports that Biman Bangladesh Airlines has carried 14,182 pilgrims across 36 flights. Saudi national carrier Saudia Airlines transported 15,458 pilgrims through 39 flights, while Flynas Airlines, based in Saudi Arabia, has brought back 6,961 pilgrims on 18 flights.
In total, 93 return flights have been operated 36 by Biman, 39 by Saudia, and 18 by Flynas ensuring the safe and orderly return of pilgrims from the holy sites.
