Trump’s Military Parade Sparks Celebration and Chaos in Washington

President Donald Trump’s long-awaited military parade took to the streets of downtown Washington on Saturday to mark the US Army’s 250th anniversary. However, the event was overshadowed by a day filled with violence and protests nationwide.

Hours before the parade began, hundreds of thousands of Americans rallied and marched in cities from New York to Los Angeles to protest Trump’s actions during his presidency. These demonstrations marked the largest mobilization since his return to power in January.

Earlier in the day, tragedy struck Minnesota when a gunman assassinated a Democratic lawmaker and wounded another, remaining at large as authorities searched for the suspect.

Meanwhile, tensions escalated in the Middle East as Israel launched a second round of strikes against Iran in an effort to dismantle its nuclear program. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes the night before, raising fears of a broader conflict between the two nations.

The week also saw unrest in Los Angeles over federal immigration raids, prompting Trump to deploy National Guard troops and US Marines to maintain order a move that faced opposition from the state’s Democratic governor.

The parade, which coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday, began earlier than planned due to thunderstorms forecasted in the Washington area. Military vehicles, including tanks, armored personnel carriers, and artillery, moved along the historic Constitution Avenue a rare sight in the United States where such displays are uncommon.

After the event, Trump told the crowd, “Every other country celebrates their victories. It’s about time America did too.”
