On Monday night, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reportedly pushed 20 individuals into Bangladesh through border points in Dinajpur and Thakurgaon districts. The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) confirmed the incidents, underscoring ongoing tensions along the border.
Lt Col Abdullah Al Moin Hasan, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-42, said a patrol team detained 13 people after they were pushed across the Enayetpur border in Biral upazila, Dinajpur. Meanwhile, another seven individuals were pushed in through the Chanduria border in Pirganj upazila, Thakurgaon.
The group included four men, four women, and 12 children. Despite repeated protests and concerns raised by Bangladesh over such incidents, the practice continues unabated, raising serious questions about border security and bilateral relations.
Bangladesh authorities continue to demand an end to these push-in operations, but the incidents persist, highlighting ongoing challenges in managing the sensitive border area.
