Lewandowski to Start on Bench in Champions League Semi-Final Clash with Inter Milan

Robert Lewandowski will begin the crucial Champions League semi-final second leg against Inter Milan on the bench, as he recovers from a hamstring injury, coach Hansi Flick announced on Monday. The Poland captain missed last week’s dramatic first leg in Catalonia due to the injury sustained against Celta Vigo last month but is now fit enough to be a substitute at the San Siro.

Flick explained that Lewandowski is progressing well and is “much better than we expected,” adding, “He is good and ready for the bench. Maybe when we need him, he can come in.” The veteran striker’s return is a significant boost for Barcelona, who need to overturn a 3-3 draw from the first leg to advance to the final.

Lewandowski’s presence on the bench provides a major tactical option for Flick in an already vital match. The Polish star has scored 40 goals across all competitions this season, making him a key figure in Barcelona’s pursuit of a historic quadruple aiming for success in the Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa.

Barcelona are also competing fiercely in Spain, leading La Liga by four points with four matches remaining, after winning the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey earlier this season under Flick’s management. Their quest for multiple trophies continues with the semi-final showdown at the San Siro, where a victory is essential to keep their trophy ambitions alive.
