BNP Leader Warns of Rising Unrest Amid Calls for Immediate Elections

BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Imran Saleh Prince has issued a stark warning that social unrest in the country will escalate if the government continues to delay necessary reforms. Speaking at a program in Haluaghat, Mymensingh, to commemorate the 89th birth anniversary of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, he emphasized the urgency of establishing an election roadmap without further procrastination.

“Reform is a continuous process that cannot be accomplished in a day, a month, or even a year,” Saleh stated. He argued that holding elections promptly is essential for ensuring the nation’s sustainable progress and overall stability.

Criticizing the ruling Awami League, Saleh accused the government of transforming the country into a “dysfunctional” state over the past 15 years, creating an environment of fear and oppression. He claimed that Sheikh Hasina’s administration has fostered a safe haven for corrupt individuals, with the ruling family allegedly leading the charge in amassing wealth through illicit means.

“There must be accountability for Awami League leaders involved in corruption, violence, and the embezzlement of public funds,” he asserted.

In addition to his political remarks, Saleh participated in various events to honor Ziaur Rahman, including essay writing and painting competitions at Shaheed Smrity Degree College, where he distributed prizes to winners. He also took the opportunity to provide warm clothing to impoverished residents affected by the cold weather, further demonstrating his commitment to community support amid the political landscape.
