In a thrilling display at Brisbane’s Gabba, Australia took command on the second day of the third Test against India. Despite an initial rain delay, Travis Head and Steve Smith’s remarkable 241-run partnership propelled the hosts to a formidable position.

By the end of day two, Australia amassed 405 for 7. Alex Carey remained unbeaten on 45, while Mitchell Starc held strong at 7. Smith ended his century drought, reaching the milestone after 26 innings, and Head dazzled with a 152-run innings, showcasing 18 boundaries.

Jasprit Bumrah’s efforts, capturing 5 wickets for 72 runs, were overshadowed by the Australian duo’s brilliance. This marked Bumrah’s 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

Travis Head’s rapid century off 115 balls underscored his prowess against India, following a previous century in Adelaide. His commanding performance helped Australia recover from earlier setbacks, including his own struggles at the Gabba.

Mohammad Siraj contributed by dismissing Mitchell Marsh for 5 and Pat Cummins for 20. Yet, with Carey still at the crease, Australia’s total is poised to expand further, leaving India trailing in the contest. Siraj and Reddy also claimed a wicket each, but the day belonged to the Australians.
