Australia’s Celebrations Chocolates Discontinued This Christmas

This year, families across Australia will be missing out on the beloved assortment, which has graced festive tables since 1997 and includes treats like Snickers, Mars, Bounty, Milky Way, and Maltesers.

“Due to the increasing cost pressures and supply challenges, particularly with products imported from Europe, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue Celebrations in Australia,” a Mars spokesperson revealed in a statement to Sydney radio station 2GB. For now, fans searching for the chocolates online at Coles and Woolworths are greeted with “out of stock” or “currently unavailable” notices, marking the first holiday season without the iconic treat in over two decades.

The Mars spokesperson hinted that the situation may not be permanent, noting the company is “currently reviewing options” for a potential return of Celebrations to Australian shelves in 2025. However, the timing of this year’s absence has already sent shockwaves across social media.

Food influencer Russ Eats, who once crowned Celebrations as Australia’s “best Christmas chocolate,” fueled speculation on Wednesday in a TikTok post after hearing from an insider that the boxes would be unavailable “at least for this Christmas.” His followers, along with other disheartened fans, voiced frustration, with one commenter joking, “Celebrations get the axe, yet Roses continue to be shelf-warmers. Russ, we need to discuss this.”

The unexpected shortage adds to the growing list of holiday-season disruptions, leaving many Aussies to wonder what Christmas will be like without their favourite box of bite-sized chocolates.
