Due to the onslaught of upstream water and the constant rain over the past few days, ten districts have been affected by the ongoing flood, which has claimed two lives and affected over 36 lakh people.
According to the most recent flood updates provided by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, one person perished in the Feni area and another in the Brahmanbaria district.
The ongoing flood hit 495 unions under 65 upazilas in 10 districts leaving 5,86,040 families stranded and 36,45,552 people affected.
Feni, Cumilla, Khagrachhari, Noakhali, Chattogram, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, and Lakshmipur districts have been affected in the flood since 20 August.
Tk3,32,00,000 in cash, 19,650 tonnes of rice, and 15,000 packets of dry foods have been allotted.
The disaster management and relief ministry has opened a control room for providing information and support. The control room’s number is 0255101115.
Deputy commissioners of the flood-affected districts have been given necessary directives to work together in coordination with coordinators of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, army, medical teams, and other volunteers.
The army sent its 160 members and 40 rescue vessels to Feni. Besides, one water treatment plant has been set up. The navy’s 71 members and eight rescue vessels are operating. Besides, more vessels have been brought and BGB members have also been deployed.
