Assistant Commissioner Peter Malley said authorities believe the pilot did not survive, though a body has not yet been located. Bramley became widely known in 2019 when, at just 16, he circumnavigated Australia in a small plane to raise awareness about youth suicide. He later founded Surviving Turbulence, a mental‑health initiative focused on supporting young people.
His family released a statement expressing profound grief: “There are no words, deeds or silver linings that make this any easier, but our beloved Bob is gone. Bob was a courageous individual, who inspired those around him with his infectious enthusiasm. He was a dreamer, who never let fear, problems or pessimists stop him from reaching his goals.”
Search and recovery efforts continue in the remote waters as investigators work to determine what caused the crash.
