The environment ministry in Bangladesh distributed awards on Wednesday to recognize outstanding efforts in biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, and tree plantation. The ceremony coincided with the observance of World Environment Day and Environment Fair 2025.
Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan presented the awards to individuals and organizations for their remarkable contributions in 2024. Although World Environment Day is celebrated globally on June 5, Bangladesh observed it on June 25 this year due to delays caused by Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

The 2025 awardees include Md Fazle Rabbi from Natore in the individual category, the Sherpur Bird Conservation Society as the organization winner, along with the Department of Zoology at the University of Dhaka and Professor Dr Md Monowar Hossain of Jahangirnagar University. Each recipient received a 22-carat gold medal weighing two bhori, a cash prize of one lakh taka, and a certificate.
