A one-year-old girl has died following a single-vehicle crash in central Queensland, while an infant boy and a woman were injured and taken to hospital.
Emergency services were called to Golden Mile Road near Dysart, about 250 kilometres south-west of Mackay, at around 9:00am on Sunday after a vehicle reportedly left the road and rolled.
The one-year-old girl died at the scene.
Police said the driver, a 22-year-old woman from Moranbah, sustained minor injuries in the crash. A five-month-old boy suffered serious injuries and was transported along with the driver to Dysart Hospital before both were flown by helicopter to Mackay for further treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are now being investigated by the Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit.
Authorities have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant information to contact police as investigations continue.
The tragedy adds to ongoing concerns about road safety across regional Queensland, with investigators working to determine the factors that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
