Falling debris ignited a fire in a non‑residential building and smashed into homes and vehicles, leaving emergency crews scrambling across the district. Inside Kyiv, residents heard a dozen powerful explosions as the air force warned of a “threat of ballistic weapon use from the north.” The city’s military administration issued an immediate air‑raid alert, urging people to take shelter.

Fires were later reported in two districts of the capital, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, after witnesses described blasts strong enough to shake buildings in the city centre.
