SA Premier Plays Down Social Media Attempts to Find His Home Address Amid Golf Course Protest Anger

1 min read

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has downplayed attempts by a small number of protesters to uncover his home address, after social media posts emerged expressing outrage over the removal of trees for the North Adelaide Golf Course redevelopment.

Malinauskas told reporters he was made aware of the posts on Sunday afternoon but refused to escalate the issue publicly. He said most protesters had behaved responsibly throughout the week, despite a handful “going way too far.”

The premier declined to comment on whether his security arrangements would change, noting that such decisions are “determined entirely” by SA Police.

Heavy rain, community anger and environmental concerns have fuelled tensions around the redevelopment, but Malinauskas reiterated that the majority of demonstrators had acted within reasonable bounds.
