One of the three people killed near Moscow was an Indian worker, according to India’s embassy in Russia. Three other Indian nationals were injured. The fourth fatality occurred in Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders north‑eastern Ukraine.

The attack came shortly after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed retaliation for Russia’s heaviest two‑day barrage on Kyiv since the full‑scale invasion began more than four years ago. That Russian strike killed 24 people, including three children, when a missile hit an apartment building.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s forces were now capable of striking targets more than 500 kilometres from the border, even through dense air‑defence systems around Moscow. “We are clearly telling the Russians: their state must end its war,” he said.

Russia’s foreign ministry accused Kyiv of deliberately targeting civilians. Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed Ukraine carried out a “mass terrorist attack” and linked it rhetorically to Eurovision, which was taking place at the same time.

Both Ukraine and Russia deny intentionally targeting civilians.
